Monthly Activities
Each month, social events are scheduled at different members' homes, local businesses, or other facilities. Not all members attend all events: that is, some people only go to their favorite event while others regularly attend multiple activities. We encourage members looking to meet new people to change up their activities, attend more events, or offer to host.SALON - (second Monday of the month) Although it's sometimes thought of as a book club, we engage ourselves with more than books. We also watch movies, hear presentations on special topics, listen to music, and more. And we don't just stick to one style or genre; for example, we've covered the gamut from Wharton to Watchmen, and that's just the W's; we've juxtaposed the original Rocky Horror with the Glee interpretation. This group often gathers to engage in discussions over hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks, wine and beer. There's something for everyone in Salon! Join us.
VOLLEYBALL - (Sundays) Every Sunday at 5pm, a group of enthusiastic players gather. It's not just fun; it's great exercise. See you on the court!
OUT OF BOUNDS DINNER - (third Saturday) Join us as we explore the rich and varied cuisines of Vermont’s restaurants. One aim of these outings is to venture away from our home ground—"Out of Bounds"—in order to sample culinary fare we might not otherwise discover. If there’s a great restaurant in your town, or one you’ve wanted to try elsewhere, let us know and we’ll put it on the list for this year. We generally average about a dozen VGSAers for cozy, fun evenings out with old and new friends. The events are “Dutch Treat” and in most cases the restaurants provide individual checks. Reservations are required - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information or to reserve a seat.
SUNDAY BRUNCH - Each month, a member hosts a potluck brunch at their home. One of VGSA's best-attended monthly gatherings (sometimes with more than 50 guests), the VGSA brunch draws people from all over the state for mimosas, delicious food and good company. This is an especially good event for newcomers to meet a range of VGSA members in a festive, low-key setting.
GAYME NIGHT - Pinochle, Trivial Pursuit - what's your favorite game? Well tuck it under your arm, grab a snack to share and your beverage of choice, and stop on by for an evening of fun.
POPCORN & A MOVIE - Are you a movie buff? Get together with other like-minded folks for some laughs or a good cry. In the last year we've watched oldies like Witness for the Prosecution and Mildred Pierce as well as Rocky Horror, Toy Story 3, and a Grey Gardens double feature (documentary and HBO movie.)
MONTPELIER MOVIE NIGHT - (Wednesdays) Join us for a "Dutch treat" in Montpelier: a movie at the Savoy Theater! Drinks and dinner out afterwards for those who are interested.
Are we missing anything? Do you have an idea for an event? Would you be willing to host? If you answer "Yes" to any of these questions, please get in touch with the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
NOTE: Many members live in Burlington or Chittenden County, but we make every effort to include members (and non-members) in the LGBT community from everywhere in the state. We're always looking to expand our events to include members (and non-members) across Vermont - we're not "Chittenden County Gay Social Alternatives," after all - so if you would like to host an event, or you would like to encourage us to find a host for an event closer to you, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
